Walking Your Walk: A Spring In-Town Feldenkrais Retreat

Do you ever wish that walking were more comfortable, or that you could walk longer or farther? As we mature, we may notice that we lose certain capacities in walking, like “I’m okay as long as there are no hills,” or “You go ahead if you want to walk faster. I’ll catch up.” During this Feldenkrais retreat, you will experience something closer to the walk you were meant to walk—a walk of greater simplicity and grace. You’ll discover your walk. Through playful and in-depth explorations of developmental movement, you will discover efficiency and fluidity that will improve your walking by improving the movements that walking is built on. Weather-permitting, we will do some of our movement practice out of doors.

What Happens in an In-Town Feldenkrais Retreat?

The Spring In-Town Feldenkrais Retreat offers three days of gentle movement, awareness practice, self-care and restoration; a clean, quiet, comfortable space; an experienced teacher … and you don’t even have to travel to enjoy it!

Each day of the Feldenkrais In-Town Retreats will include three Awareness Through Movement lessons. The lessons will vary from quiet breath work to larger, more challenging (and fun!) movements. During breaks you can have tea and snacks in the center’s comfortable kitchen, or walk through Dharma Gate’s beautiful garden.

Why Come to a Retreat?

Come for some solitary time, or share introspective time with new and familiar friends. The manna we’ll all share is Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement, and the process of self-discovery it provides.

Please plan on taking some time off during the retreat. Try not to pack a full schedule on retreat days.

“Learning . . . is not the training of willpower but the acquisition of the skill to inhibit parasitic action and the ability to direct clear motivations as a result of self-knowledge.” Moshe Feldenkrais, The Potent Self.
